Scope and accountability

This Policy applies to personal information handled by Empire SCBA & Supplies (“Empire SCBA,” “we,” “us” or “our”) through empirescba.com, our contact and quote forms, related email correspondence and authorized website administration.

We handle personal information in accordance with applicable privacy laws, including Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act and, where applicable, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. Our Privacy Officer is accountable for our privacy practices and may be contacted using the details below.

Information we collect

Information you provide

When you contact us, we may collect your name, email address, subject and message. When you request a quote, we may also collect your telephone number, company or fire department, requested product, quantity, pressure, cylinder size, currency, promotional code, notes and other specifications you choose to provide.

Contact-form submissions are delivered to our business mailbox through our email provider and are not intentionally saved in the Site database. Quote requests are recorded in our website database and also delivered by email so authorized administrators can respond, assign and update the request, and keep internal follow-up notes. Marking a request as archived is a workflow status and does not by itself delete the record.

The Site does not request or process payment-card information. Please do not include payment details, government identifiers, health information or other sensitive personal information in a free-text field.

Website and account information

Our systems and service providers may process IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages requested, timestamps, diagnostic events and security logs. Authorized administrators also use account, authentication and audit information to operate the Site securely.

How we use information

We use personal information for reasonable purposes connected with our business, including to:

  • respond to questions and requested communications;
  • prepare, administer and follow up on requested quotes;
  • discuss product configuration, availability, pricing, delivery and service requirements;
  • maintain customer and business records;
  • operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve the Site;
  • prevent misuse and investigate security or privacy incidents; and
  • meet legal, regulatory, accounting and dispute-resolution requirements.

Submitting a contact or quote form authorizes us to use the information for that request and related follow-up. It does not subscribe you to promotional email. If we introduce marketing communications, we will obtain and record any consent required by Canada’s anti-spam law and provide an unsubscribe method.

Cookies and website operation

Necessary technologies support secure administrator sign-in, session integrity, form security and essential website operation. Disabling these technologies may prevent protected features from working.

This version of the Site does not load Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, Google AdSense, advertising pixels or behavioural-analytics tags. If we introduce optional analytics in the future, we will update this Policy and request any consent required before loading them.

Microsoft Application Insights and hosting logs may process limited operational and security telemetry needed to diagnose errors, maintain performance and protect the Site. We do not intentionally send contact-form or quote-form field values to these diagnostic tools.

Service providers, disclosure and processing outside Canada

We may provide personal information to service providers that need it to perform services for us, including Microsoft Azure for website hosting, database services and monitoring, and Twilio SendGrid for email delivery. Google Maps receives ordinary connection and device information only when you choose the external directions link on our Contact page; we do not send your contact- or quote-form fields to Google Maps. We may also disclose information to professional advisers, insurers, prospective transaction parties or public authorities where reasonably necessary and permitted or required by law.

Our current website-hosting, database, monitoring and email-delivery services may process information in Canada or the United States. Information processed outside Canada may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction and may be accessible to courts, law-enforcement or national-security authorities. Empire SCBA remains accountable for information transferred for processing and uses contractual and other safeguards appropriate to the information.

Contact our Privacy Officer for current written information about our policies for service providers outside Canada, the countries in which processing may occur and the purposes for that processing.

We do not sell or rent personal information.

Retention and safeguards

We retain personal information only as long as reasonably required for the purposes described above and for applicable business, legal, accounting, warranty, safety and dispute-resolution requirements. When information is no longer reasonably required, we securely destroy it or make it anonymous.

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity and amount of information, including access controls, authenticated administration, encryption in transit, service-provider controls and logging. No Internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

If a privacy breach occurs, we will contain and investigate it and notify privacy regulators and affected individuals where applicable law requires.

Your privacy rights and choices

You may make a written request to access personal information we hold about you or ask us to correct an identified error or omission. We may need to verify your identity before responding. Access may be limited by lawful exceptions, and Alberta law permits certain reasonable fees for access requests after advance notice.

You may withdraw consent to future use or disclosure, subject to legal or contractual limits and reasonable notice. Withdrawal may affect our ability to answer a request or provide a service. We generally respond to Alberta PIPA access requests within 45 days, subject to permitted extensions.

The Site is intended for organizations and adults seeking business information. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Third-party websites

The Site may link to manufacturers, social networks or other third parties. Their websites and privacy practices are controlled by those parties, not Empire SCBA. Review their policies before providing personal information.

Changes to this Policy

We may revise this Policy as our practices or legal requirements change. We will post the updated Policy here and change the effective date. If a change materially affects how we use personal information already collected, we will provide additional notice or seek consent where required.
